Two-step validation (also known as two-factor authentication) allows you to add an extra layer of security to your account to protect it in case your password is hacked.
Google doesn’t give you a choice, it will be mandatory starting November 9, 2021.

We can only regret that Google does not offer the option to use the DUO authenticator.
